Provider FAQs
What makes Biologics different from other specialty pharmacies?
Biologics combines the personalized support of an independent specialty pharmacy with the scale and resources of McKesson. With expertise spanning oncology, rare disease and cell and gene therapies, we support patients throughout the specialty medication journey using dedicated provider resources, clinical support programs and technology designed to help navigate complex access and treatment challenges.
Does Biologics only support oncology medications?
No. While Biologics has deep roots in oncology, we also support patients receiving rare disease, orphan disease, and cell and gene therapies. Our portfolio includes more than 200 specialty therapies, including many limited distribution medications.
What is a limited distribution drug?
Some specialty medications are only available through a select group of pharmacies chosen by the manufacturer. These medications are commonly referred to as limited distribution drugs (LDDs). Biologics supports more than 130 limited distribution therapies across oncology, rare disease and other complex therapeutic areas.
What support can Biologics provide after a referral is submitted?
Biologics supports patients and provider practices throughout the specialty medication journey. Depending on the patient's needs, support may include benefits investigation, prior authorization guidance, financial assistance navigation, refill coordination, adherence support, insurance changes and continuity-of-care assistance for patients who travel or relocate.
Who should my office contact if we need help?
Biologics provides provider support resources to help answer questions throughout the referral and treatment journey. Depending on your needs, your office may work with field representatives, practice support resources, clinical team members or other Biologics specialists who can provide guidance, answer questions and support specialty medication referrals.
Can Biologics support our office's workflow preferences?
Yes. Biologics works with a wide range of provider offices, health systems and academic centers. Our teams strive to align communication and collaboration with the needs of each practice while supporting specialty pharmacy requirements.
How does Biologics support medically integrated dispensing (MID) and health systems?
Biologics supports health systems, medically integrated dispensing programs and other specialty pharmacy models. When therapies cannot be dispensed internally, we can help maintain continuity of care, coordinate specialty pharmacy services and support patient access needs.
Is Biologics a 340B contract pharmacy?
Biologics works with provider organizations operating in 340B environments and can help support specialty medication access strategies that align with those programs. Specific program structures vary by organization and site of care. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your organization's specialty pharmacy goals and how Biologics may be able to support them.
Can Biologics support patients who travel or relocate?
Yes. Biologics is licensed in all U.S. states and territories and can help support continuity of care for patients who travel, relocate or live seasonally in another location. To help avoid gaps in therapy, patients should contact their Care Team at 800.850.4306 or mycareteam@biologicsinc.com.
