Cary, N.C., Sept. 7, 2026 – Biologics by McKesson, an independent specialty pharmacy specializing in oncology, cell and gene, and rare disease therapies, has been selected by Takeda to be part of a limited network of a specialty pharmacy providers for MIMRYLO™ (rusfertide). This newly FDA-approved, first-in-class therapy is indicated for the treatment of erythrocytosis in adults with polycythemia vera (PV) and is administered via subcutaneous injection.

“Living with polycythemia vera means carrying a lifelong diagnosis that can be both physically and emotionally demanding,” said Ela Lourido, vice president and general manager, Biologics by McKesson. “We’re proud to partner with Takeda as a limited distribution specialty pharmacy provider for MIMRYLO, helping bring this newly approved therapy to patients who need new options. Advancing access to innovative oncology and rare disease therapies is core to our role — and to the impact we strive to make for patients and providers navigating complex care.”

Polycythemia vera is a rare blood cancer in which the bone marrow makes too many red blood cells. This excess production thickens the blood and slows its flow, which can increase the risk of serious complications such as blood clots, heart attack or stroke. People with PV may experience symptoms including headaches, dizziness, fatigue, blurred vision and itching, although some individuals are diagnosed before symptoms appear. Because PV is a chronic condition, long-term treatment and ongoing monitoring are important to help control blood counts, manage symptoms, and reduce the risk of complications.

Biologics by McKesson is committed to and recognized for its level of customer service as well as its innovative, high-touch, and multidisciplinary approach. Putting patients first in all they do, the Biologics’ pharmacy team includes pharmacists with in-depth knowledge of therapies, experienced nurses, and financial counselors who are familiar with various financial assistance programs and organizations that help patients.
