Cary, N.C., September 9, 2026 – Biologics by McKesson, an independent specialty pharmacy specializing in oncology, cell and gene, and rare disease therapies, has been selected by AstraZeneca as a limited distribution specialty pharmacy provider for ETCAMAH® (camizestrant). This newly FDA‑approved oral therapy is an estrogen receptor antagonist indicated in combination with a CDK4/6 inhibitor (abemaciclib, palbociclib, or ribociclib) for the treatment of adult patients with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative, locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer upon detection of ESR1 mutation during aromatase inhibitor and CDK4/6 inhibitor therapy, based on an FDA-authorized test.
“For individuals living with HR‑positive, HER2‑negative advanced breast cancer, the emergence of an ESR1 mutation may signal that the cancer is beginning to develop resistance to therapy,” said Ela Lourido, vice president and general manager, Biologics by McKesson. “We’re proud to be selected by AstraZeneca as a limited distribution specialty pharmacy provider for ETCAMAH®, building on a long history of partnership centered on advancing innovative therapies. This therapy gives oncologists a meaningful option at the earliest signs of resistance, and our team remains committed to ensuring timely access and delivering compassionate, high‑touch support for every patient and provider we serve.”
HR‑positive, HER2‑negative advanced breast cancer is the most common breast cancer subtype, and these tumors typically rely on estrogen signaling to grow. Standard first‑line treatment often includes endocrine (hormone‑blocking) therapy, but over time tumors can adapt and develop ESR1 mutations. These mutations can emerge after prolonged exposure to endocrine therapy and may signal that a patient’s current treatment is becoming less effective. Early detection of ESR1 mutations can help clinicians identify resistance sooner and tailor therapy to better sustain clinical benefit.
